Alicja Domanska is a well known painter and interior designer. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Gdansk and lives and creates in Sopot.
She had numerous exhibitions in Warsaw, Sopot, Cracow and Lodz, as well as in London, Berlin, Paris and Stockholm. She was awarded the prestigious 'Sopot Muse for Culture'. Alicja also cooperates with theatre, fashion designers and with musicians... always using sound as an integral part of the individual perception.
Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete. Close to taschisme - taking its name from patches of colour placed on canvas spontaneously and by chance, the result being considered an emotional projection rather than an expression or a symbol. This infuses emotions on canvas with force. The viewer has to feel the painting, not only look at it… becoming part of the art.
John Porter
born in Wales, landed in Poland around 1976, fell in love with the country and people and has lived here ever since. He's a well known alternative rock musician who has played a major part on the Polish rock scene. His first break came playing with the legendary Manaam – Electric Shower – acoustic punk with Marek Jackowski and Kora. Then he went on to form his own legendary rock formation Porter Band. Has had much success as a solo artist, his bands and the evergreen record-breaking duo Lipnicka/Porter.
John has recorded over 20 albums to date apart from guest appearances on many polish stars' albums, collecting a few platinum and gold records on the way. He has also written musical scores for films and tv. In 2005 he was honoured for services to culture with the 'Gloria Artis' medal from the Polish Ministry of Culture.
He tours with his John Porter Band and latest critically acclaimed album 'Honey Trap'.
After seeing Alicja's paintings he was deeply inspired to write a song called 'Alice Left Wonderland' and from one song and one painting a project was born.
