James Kalm began reporting on the
work of Brent Owens about seven years ago, and it's been an interesting
project to keep in touch, and follow the development in this artist's
practice. Working in a "deep fried" southern vernacular of what might
be termed "Duck Dynasty Dada", Owens presents examples of eccentric
woodworking and sign making that play off back road Americana and strip
mall materiality.
