Life of Pi, the 2012 Academy-Award
winning feature film has set new standards for innovative collaborations
between visual artists and film makers. Director Ang Lee sought out
Alexis Rockman's vision as an artist with a specific commitment to hand
drawing to bring a human scale to the project. Known for his
naturalistic studies of fantastical flora and fauna, as well as his
environmental activism, Alexis Rockman influenced the look of the movie
with his blooming and bleeding water color painting style. This program
is a brief walk through of his exhibition at The Drawing Center in
October 2013.
