With
a career in the New York scene stretching back to the mid 1980s, Steve
Dibenedettto has continued to influence and intrigue those with a more
than passing interest in the practice of painting. Immerging as a
potent source of an Abstract Expressionist cum psychedelic legacy,
Dibenedetto lavishes years of obsessive re-working on his pictures, and
creates surfaces and patinas that bespeak a disquieting psychic mystery
verging on the mystical. "Mile High Psychiatry" presents three major
paintings from the last decade and a selection of smaller works that
help elucidate his techniques and ideas. A musical introduction by JOGA
was recorded live under the Arch at Washington Square Park.
