ROBERT GOLDMAN aka Bobby G at HIONAS GALLERY

Veröffentlicht am 17.10.2016
James Kalm has been seeing work by Bobby G since the early 1980s. As a member of CoLab, an historic artist collaborative group, Bobby G took part in some of the most influential activistic art exhibitions of the era. His use of silver outlines, and a subject matter that is a repertoire of local “home boy” as subjects, gives the work a grittiness bespeaking the streets of downtown. This new body of works contrasts a version of minimalist formalism against goofy, cartoonish portraits, executed in drippy metallic silver paint, producing a visually discordant rupture in pictorial aesthetics. Dustin provides a musical introduction. This program was recorded October 13 2016 on the Lower East Side.
