Peter Linde Busk The Generous Gambler at DEREK ELLER GALLERY

James Kalm, like the average citizen of New York, sometimes gets exposed to political protests that happen on the Brooklyn Bridge. We begin this report with such a happening, a recent event that focuses on climate change and a proposed fracking pipeline. After schmoozing his way through the police barricade your correspondent makes his way to the Lower East Side to take in a viewing of Peter Linde Brusk’s “The Generous Gambler”. This batch of work features an impressive collection of materials including: fired ceramic, treated wood, copper, glass, treated stone, recycled woodblocks, linen, painted paper and cardboard, all mingled together into exuberant mosaic figures reminiscent of art brut, and even COBRA compositions, but with a unique sense of design, and pattern. A musical intro is provided by Gypsy Joe Trane. This program was recorded April 18, 2019.
