James Kalm is running ahead of a torrential downpour when he ducks into Williamsburg’s Sideshow Gallery, and snags Carri Skoczek for an impromptu tour and explication of her show “Persons of Interest”. This exhibition is comprised of portraits of women, rogues and heroines, all depicted in the artist’s uniquely graphically style. Carolee Schneemann has been a presence in the New York Avant-Garde since the early 1960s. ”Further Evidence – Exhibit B” is a pair of multi-channel video installations in which Schneemann juxtaposes the “ecstatic normal” against “violent, concussive, speeding fragments”. These pieces continue the artist’s presentations lifted images from the mainstream media, collected since the 1960s, and her own personal recordings spliced, overlaid and contrasted with ambient sounds. These exhibitions were recorded October 29, and 30, 2016.
