Adam Parker Smith Kidnapping… and Eric Shaw Trails at THE HOLE

James Kalm is out for a look around on the Bowery, New York’s hottest art neighborhood, when he decided to make a detour to The Hole, and brings viewers along for the ride. “Kidnapping Incites Years of Murderous Doom” is the title of Adam Parker Smiths latest offering. This sculpture show presents works crafted from kitschy metallic colored balloons which have been assembled, inflated and preserved, like fossils, in clear resin. A tongue in cheek reference to Homer’s “Iliad” is the theme, and pieces are titled after its heroes and other Greek legends. In the project Gallery Eric Shaw shows a group of hard edge abstract paintings “Trails”. Collecting references from street signs, corporate logos and other visual manifestations, Shaw employes a palette of colors that range from hot florescent and primarys to toned down tertiary greys and earth tones. This program was recorded November 5, 2017. https://brooklynrail.org/2006/06/arts...
