James
Kalm strolls into the Signal Gallery a half hour before the closing of
Jordan Kasey’s “Free Time”, and is lucky enough to snag the artist for a
brief walk through tour. “Free Time” is Kasey’s debut exhibition in
New York. The show presents a group of large format oil paintings
depicting huge often single androgynous, anonymous figures. These near
monochrome figures seem embedded in varying fields of dread and anxiety,
their balloon like bodies expansion into the space of the picture plane
expressing the magnitude of the malady. This program was recorded June
26, 2016 in Bushwick Brooklyn.
