Since the advent of "institutional
critique", art that questions the structural integrity of art culture
has proliferated. Whether challenging notions of "originality", the
exclusivity of museums and publications or "subversive complicity", this
area of investigation has often produced provocative art. This double
show of Whitmarsh and Doeringer presents works that play with our
accepted ideas of notoriety, and fandom, melding an obsessive regard
for art history and the insertion of oneself into the matrix.
