James
Kalm has reported on the exhibitions of Nicole Eisenman since near the
beginning of his video project. During that time, he has had the
privilege of seeing Eisenman’s status and recognition expand from local
phenom, to international art star. Dropping in just before closing,
Kalm brings viewers along for a walking tour of this latest group of
paintings. These ambitious works perform a whimsical balancing act
between cartoony kitsch, art historical reference and “academic
realism”. The back gallery presents a selection of drawings and a
sculpture, showing the breadth of this artist’s practice. This program
was recorded on 19 May, 2016.
