Berlin,
1973; while the collapse of the "Iron Curtain" and the implosion of the
Soviet Union were still in a distant and uncertain future, James Kalm,
as a young GI, stumbled into the Neue Nationalgalerie, and had his
first encounter with works by Joseph Beuys. His interests and study of
this protein artist started then and have continued to this day.
"Joseph Beuys Multiples The Reinhard Schlegel Collection" is the largest
New York exhibition of these works to date. Featuring prints, posters,
sculptures, ephemera and mixed media works, this show contains around
500 items representing works spanning the artist's career from the early
1960s to his death in 1986.
