An ambitious technological challenge
wherein Jonathan Schipper designed an extruder suspended from computer
controlled cables which has the ability to squirt out a salt and water
mixture to create forms (like a giant 3D printer). This is all
operating in an environment of twelve tons of rock salt, with a hot tub
to supply the water. Starting out with basic forms, Jonathan hopes to
perfect the technique until the apparatus is capable of reproducing
items like an old car, toilet or tire. Despite the success of creating
forms, Schipper incorporates a Robert Smithson sense entropy as one of
the subjects investigated. He'll be working out the bugs for the next
couple of months, and your correspondent will return to keep viewers
apprised of the progress.
