James
Kalm catches up with Nina Bovasso, and makes a brief visual tour of her
latest show "Flat, Baroque and Berserk" at Schema Projects. The title
of the show is an homage to legendary guitarist Roy Harper and his
classic 1970 album. Like Harper, Bovasso fills her compositions with
repeated rhythms of form, weaving them into layered streams of
decorative flow that have the ringing clarity of a Bach fugue. The
artist's high keyed color sense lend these works on paper a graphic
punch that is unique. Recorded in Bushwick September 25, 2015.
