James
Klam is dogging the Chelsea nabs just after closing time, looking for
trouble (or anything else that might be interesting) when he spies a
crowed on the street in front of Pace. Making a quick glance inside, he
decided to lock up the bike, and make a running tour of
"Counterclockwise" the latest offer from Tim Hawkinson. Hawkinson is a
master of the over-engineered low-tech, fashioning most of the work from
recycled materials like plastic bottles, bicycle reflectors and kitchen
accessories. Mingled within this obsessive tinker's workshop is a
sophisticated use of sideshow humor, Utopian longings, and an echo of a
museum of the macabre. This program was recorded February 26, 2016 in
Chelsea. A musical introduction is provided by Chris Cahill.
