James Kalm commences the twelfth year of the Kalm Report and Rough Cut Channel, with over one thousand programs on line, six million views and fifteen thousand subscribers.

Slinking back to the Bowery on a bone-chilling early January evening, your correspondent takes in a viewing of “Fourteen Paintings”. This exhibition is a suite of works demonstrating a formalistic investigation into the folding of the picture plain into three dimensional space. Questioning the boundaries between flat painting and articulated plains, these works also explore the subtle qualities of pigment and hue on a slanted surface, and how the painted image changes its shape in relation to the viewer. Artist Robert Moreland makes a spontaneous appearance, discusses his background, and his ideas for the show.
