Casey Cook Matthew F Fisher at SHRINE Adam Taye at RAWSON PROJECTS Four at SARGENT’S DAUGHTERS

James Kalm is out for his Sunday acculturation tour on the Lower East Side and begins his visits at Shrine Gallery. Scott Ogden gives viewers a brief introduction and description of Night Waves a two person show by Casey Cook and Matthew F. Fisher. These artists share a unique distilled vision that melds obsessive technical practices with strange depictions of figures and images. Around the corner and down the street viewers can join the stroll through “Soft Targets” at Rawson Projects”. Adam Taye stitches together Popish targets with references to Warhol, Rumsfeld, and Trump, using a colorful printed camo pattern. These works have the presence of arts and crafts sewing exercise and a comic hick-stick militia flag. Then, unusual for a Sunday afternoon, Kalm spots an opening organized by We Buy Gold titled “FOUR” at Sergeant’s Daughters. This ruckus pop up show features works by: Elliott Jerome Brown Jr., Ja’Tovia Gary, texas Isaiah, and Shellyne Rodriguez. This program was recorded April 29, 2018 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
