James
Kalm was raised in close proximity to the West Coast, and as a result,
spent much of his impressionable youth contemplating Californian art of
the late 1960's and early 1970's. Perhaps not achieving the celebrity
status of other members of the "Light and Space" movement, De Wain
Valentine was nevertheless an acknowledged master of plastics
technology, even teaching courses in the subject at UCLA. This
exhibition gathers together some of his most impressive works from this
historic period, giving visitors a rare opportunity to experience the
beauty and ambitiously austere sculpture that has set him apart.
